Terms of Service

The agreement between you and PaperToad when you download, install or play Call to Rule — including your licence to play, the rules, and how disputes are handled.

Last updated: 9 September 2026Version 1.0

1. Who you are agreeing with

Call to Rule is developed and operated by Papertoad FZE LLC ("PaperToad", "we", "us", "our"), a company licensed by the Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone Authority (SPC Free Zone) under trade licence number 4431780, with its registered office at Business Centre, Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and PaperToad. They cover the Call to Rule game client on every platform we publish it on, the calltorule.com website, our game servers, and every related service we operate (together, the "Service").

Three other documents form part of this agreement, and you should read them:

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, do not install or play Call to Rule.

2. Who may play

You may create an account and play only if:

  • You are at least 13 years old; and
  • If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you are at least the age at which your country allows you to consent to online services on your own — this is between 13 and 16 depending on the country, and is 16 in several EEA states. If you are below that age, a holder of parental responsibility must agree to these Terms on your behalf and supervise your use of the Service; and
  • You are not barred from using the Service under the laws that apply to you, and you are not located in a country subject to a comprehensive United Arab Emirates, United Nations, European Union, United Kingdom or United States embargo, and you are not on any government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

We ask for your date of birth when you register. We use it to apply the age rules above and for nothing else. Giving a false date of birth to get past the age gate is a breach of these Terms and we may close the account.

Parents and guardians: please read our Children's Privacy & Parental Information page, which explains the controls available to you.

3. Your account

You need an account to play. When you create one:

  • Give accurate registration details and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password and any sign-in link private. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, unless it is the result of a failure on our side.
  • Tell us at support@calltorule.com as soon as you suspect someone else has access to your account.
  • Use one account for yourself. You may not create accounts in bulk, use another person's account, or let anyone else use yours.

Accounts are not property and may not be traded. You may not sell, rent, gift, lend or transfer your account, your account credentials, or anything in your account, and you may not buy an account from anyone else. Accounts and virtual items obtained through account trading, "boosting" services, third-party marketplaces or key resellers may be removed without compensation.

You can close your account at any time — see Account & Data Deletion.

4. The licence you get

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, PaperToad grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use one copy of the Call to Rule client on devices you own or control, and to access the Service, for your own private, non-commercial entertainment.

That is the whole of what you are granted. In particular, you may not:

  • Copy, modify, translate, adapt, decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer any part of the Service, except to the exact extent that applicable law says you may despite this restriction;
  • Create, distribute or use cheats, bots, macros, automation, scripts, trainers, modified clients, memory editors, packet manipulators, or anything else that gives an advantage the game is not designed to give;
  • Interfere with our servers, probe or scan our infrastructure, defeat rate limits, or attempt to access accounts, data or areas of the Service you were not granted access to;
  • Extract, scrape or mine data from the Service, or use the Service to train a machine-learning model, except with our prior written permission;
  • Use the Service to make money — including selling in-game services, running paid coaching against our rules, advertising, or commercially exploiting any part of the Service — without our prior written permission;
  • Remove, obscure or alter any notice of ownership, rating or attribution.

Nothing in this section is intended to limit rights you have under mandatory law, including security research permitted by law. If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please report it to security@papertoad.com rather than exploiting it; we will not pursue good-faith researchers who follow that route.

5. What we own, and what you own

PaperToad and its licensors own the Service and everything in it — the software, the heroes and their designs, artwork, animation, audio, music, maps, names, logos, the Call to Rule brand, and the underlying systems. These are protected by copyright, trade mark and other laws. Your licence to play does not transfer ownership of anything to you.

Your content. When you send a message, choose a display name, name a guild, upload an avatar, or otherwise contribute content to the Service ("Your Content"), you keep whatever ownership rights you already had. You grant PaperToad a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, translate, publish and display Your Content, for the purposes of operating, moderating, securing and promoting the Service. This licence lasts as long as we need it for those purposes and ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we must retain for legal, safety or backup reasons.

You confirm that you have the rights to everything you contribute, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights or break the law.

Fan content. We want you to make videos, streams, guides, art and fan sites about Call to Rule. Our permissions and limits for that are set out in our Intellectual Property & Fan Content Policy, which also explains how to report infringement.

6. Fair play, moderation and enforcement

Call to Rule is a competitive game, and it only works if matches are honest. Our full behaviour rules are in the Community Code of Conduct. In summary, you must not cheat, exploit bugs for advantage, deliberately lose or sabotage matches, abandon matches repeatedly, harass or abuse other players, or use hateful, threatening or sexual language toward anyone.

We operate automated and human systems to detect cheating, fraud, and abusive behaviour, and to review reports from other players. Depending on what we find and how serious it is, we may:

  • Issue a warning, or restrict chat, matchmaking or social features;
  • Reset a rank, reverse ill-gotten rewards, or remove items obtained in breach of these Terms;
  • Suspend an account temporarily; or
  • Terminate an account permanently.

Where the law allows, we act in a proportionate way and take account of the seriousness and history of the behaviour. If we take action against your account you may appeal it by writing to support@calltorule.com with your player ID. A human will review the appeal, and we will tell you the outcome. If you are in the EEA and you disagree with the outcome, you also keep the right to complain to a court or an out-of-court dispute settlement body.

Automated detection may lead to an automatic restriction. In those cases you may ask for a human review, and we will provide one.

7. Purchases and virtual items

Some parts of Call to Rule can be bought with real money, and some in-game rewards are awarded at random. Everything about payment, virtual currency, item ownership, random-item odds, and refunds is set out in the Purchases, Virtual Items & Refunds Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

Two points are important enough to repeat here:

  • Virtual items and virtual currency are licensed, not sold. You get a limited right to use them inside Call to Rule. They have no monetary value outside the game, cannot be exchanged for real money by us, and cannot be traded outside the game.
  • Purchases in the mobile app are processed by the app store, not by us. Refunds for those purchases are governed by the store's own policy in the first instance, on top of any statutory right you have.

8. Platform terms — Apple and Google

Where you obtained Call to Rule from an app store, that store's terms also apply to you, and the following applies in addition to these Terms.

For the Apple App Store, you and we acknowledge:

  • This agreement is between you and PaperToad only. Apple is not a party to it. Apple is not responsible for Call to Rule or its content.
  • Your licence to use Call to Rule is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • PaperToad, not Apple, is solely responsible for Call to Rule and for providing any maintenance and support for it. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support.
  • If Call to Rule fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple's only obligation is to refund the purchase price (if any) of the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation of any kind.
  • PaperToad, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Call to Rule, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection claims, and claims of intellectual property infringement.
  • You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them against you.

For Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply to your acquisition and use of the app, and refunds for purchases made through Google Play are handled in the first instance under Google's refund policy.

9. The Service changes, and one day it will end

Call to Rule is a live, online, connected service. We will change it. Heroes get rebalanced, abilities get reworked, items and modes get added, changed or removed, seasons end, and content is retired. Balance changes and content changes are a normal part of the game and are not a defect, and we make them without needing your consent, including where they affect an item you have paid for. Where a change materially reduces the usefulness of something you bought, we will act reasonably and in accordance with your rights under the applicable consumer law.

We aim for the Service to be available continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may take the Service down for maintenance, and it may become unavailable through causes outside our control.

If we decide to shut down Call to Rule permanently, or to stop supporting your region, we will:

  • Give at least 90 days' public notice wherever we reasonably can, through the game and on calltorule.com;
  • Stop selling virtual currency and paid items from the date of the announcement; and
  • Handle unspent paid virtual currency in accordance with the Purchases, Virtual Items & Refunds Policy and the consumer law that applies to you.

10. Beta tests, previews and experimental features

We sometimes invite players to closed tests, betas or experimental features. Those builds are provided "as is", may be unstable, and progress or items earned in them may be reset or removed without compensation. If a test is covered by a confidentiality obligation we will tell you clearly before you take part, and you must respect it.

We also run A/B experiments — different players may see different versions of a feature, a price, or a piece of user interface. This is normal product development.

11. Suspension and termination

By you. You may stop playing at any time and delete your account through the process on the Account & Data Deletion page.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, if:

  • You materially breach these Terms, the Code of Conduct, or the Purchases Policy;
  • We are required to do so by law, a court, or a regulator;
  • Your account is involved in fraud, chargeback abuse, payment reversal, or the sale of accounts or items; or
  • Keeping the account open would create a serious risk to other players or to the Service.

Except where the breach is serious, unlawful, or repeated, we will give you notice and, where it is appropriate, an opportunity to put things right.

What happens on termination. Your licence ends immediately, your access to virtual items and virtual currency ends, and unless the law says otherwise you are not entitled to a refund of anything already consumed. Sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, disclaimers, liability, governing law — survive termination. If you close your account yourself, your data is handled as described in Account & Data Deletion.

12. Warranties and disclaimers

We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the maximum extent permitted by the law that applies to you, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we exclude all other warranties, conditions and terms, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, that defects will be corrected, or that matchmaking will always produce balanced matches.

Your statutory rights are not affected. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms removes or limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law — including Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection and its implementing regulations in the United Arab Emirates, and the consumer protection law of your country of residence in the EEA or the United Kingdom. Where a term in these Terms conflicts with a mandatory consumer right, the mandatory right wins and the rest of these Terms continues to apply.

13. Our liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, loss of rank or in-game progress, loss of data caused by something outside our reasonable control, or any indirect or consequential loss;
  • We are not liable for the acts of other players, including harassment, cheating or fraud committed by them, although we will act on it under section 6; and
  • Our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with these Terms and the Service, for all claims taken together in any 12-month period, is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) US$100 or its equivalent.

If you are a consumer resident in the EEA or the UK, these limits apply only so far as your national law allows.

14. Indemnity

If you use the Service in breach of these Terms and that causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to indemnify us against the reasonable costs, damages and expenses we incur as a result. This does not apply where you are a consumer and applicable law prevents it, and it does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own act or omission.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms — for example when we launch a feature, when the law changes, or when we correct something.

  • For minor changes (clarifications, typos, contact details), we update the page and the "Last updated" date.
  • For material changes — anything that affects your rights, your purchases, or how we handle disputes — we will give you at least 30 days' notice before they take effect, through an in-game notice, an email if we have one for you, or a prominent notice on calltorule.com.

If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the Service and close your account before it takes effect. Continuing to play after the change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. A change never applies retroactively to a dispute that already arose.

16. Complaints, governing law and disputes

Talk to us first. Most problems are solved fastest by writing to support@calltorule.com. Please include your player ID and what happened. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 business days and to resolve them within 30 days.

Governing law. These Terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Sharjah, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Jurisdiction. You and we agree that the courts of the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates have jurisdiction over any dispute. However, if you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country in which you live, and it does not remove your right to bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence where the law gives you that right.

For consumers in the EEA: the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not currently obliged, and do not undertake, to participate in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board.

For users in the United Arab Emirates: you may also raise a consumer complaint with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism through its consumer protection channels, or with the competent authority in your Emirate.

17. General

  • Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest continues in force.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not lose it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to an affiliate or as part of a business transfer, provided your rights are not reduced.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Purchases Policy, Code of Conduct and IP Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • Force majeure. Neither party is liable for a failure caused by an event outside its reasonable control.
  • Language. These Terms are published in English and Arabic. If the versions differ, the English version governs.
  • No third-party rights, except that Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce section 8 as described there.
