1. Scope
This policy governs every payment you make in Call to Rule and every virtual item, virtual currency or entitlement you receive. It forms part of the Terms of Service. Where this policy and the Terms of Service conflict on a payment question, this policy wins.
The seller of anything you buy inside the mobile app is the app store you bought it from. PaperToad is the developer and operator of the game and the party responsible for delivering what you bought.
2. What you are buying
Call to Rule uses two kinds of in-game currency:
- Earned currency, which you get by playing. It cannot be bought with money.
- Premium currency, which you buy with real money and can also receive as a reward.
Both are used to obtain virtual items — hero unlocks, cosmetic skins, emblems, and similar entitlements.
Virtual currency and virtual items are licensed to you, not sold. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them inside Call to Rule for as long as we operate it. You do not own them, they are not your property, and they are not a stored-value or payment instrument.
Because of that:
- They have no monetary value outside the game, and we will not exchange them for cash.
- They cannot be transferred, gifted, sold, or traded to another player or on any third-party marketplace, and buying or selling them outside the game is a breach of the Terms of Service that can cost you the account.
- They exist only inside Call to Rule and end when your licence to play ends.
3. Prices, currency and tax
Prices are shown in the game before you confirm a purchase, in the currency your app store account uses.
- Prices displayed to consumers include applicable taxes where the law requires that. UAE Value Added Tax at 5% applies to sales to customers in the United Arab Emirates. Not registered for UAE VAT at the date of this notice.
- Your app store may apply its own currency conversion and fees. That is between you and the store.
- We may change prices for future purchases. A price change never affects something you have already bought.
- Promotional prices last only for the stated period.
The purchase is confirmed only when the app store confirms the payment and the game grants the item. If money leaves your account and the item does not arrive, contact support@calltorule.com with the store transaction reference and we will fix it or refund it.
4. Random items and disclosed odds
Some purchases in Call to Rule give a randomised reward — a draw from a defined pool rather than a specific item you pick.
We commit to the following, and they are not optional:
- The odds are published before you pay. The probability of receiving each rarity tier, and the contents of the pool, are shown on the purchase screen in the game before you confirm anything. You never spend on a draw whose odds you have not been shown.
- The published odds are the real odds. They are the same numbers the server uses to resolve the draw. When we change them, we change the published figure at the same moment.
- The pity counter is disclosed. Where a draw has a guarantee — a maximum number of draws before a top-tier reward is granted — that limit and your current progress toward it are shown to you.
- Odds never depend on who you are. They are not adjusted for your spending history, your session length, or anything else about you.
- You always get something. No draw returns nothing.
If you are under the age at which you can legally enter into this kind of transaction where you live, you must not make a purchase without the consent of a parent or guardian. See section 8.
We do not offer real-money gambling. Random rewards are entertainment items only: nothing paid out has cash value, nothing can be cashed out, and there is no wagering between players.
5. Refunds
You may have more than one route to a refund. Use whichever is best for you — they do not cancel each other out.
5.1 The app store route — usually fastest
Purchases made inside the mobile app are processed by Apple or Google, and they own the refund decision in the first instance.
- Apple App Store — request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Google Play — request through your Google Play order history, or at play.google.com.
We cannot reverse a store charge ourselves, but we will support a genuine claim if the store asks us.
5.2 Your statutory right of withdrawal — EEA and UK consumers
If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a contract for digital content without giving a reason.
Important — how that right applies here. Digital content delivered immediately is treated differently. When you buy virtual currency or a virtual item and it appears in your account straight away, you are asked to expressly consent to immediate performance and to acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal once delivery has begun. That request is presented on the purchase screen, and by confirming the purchase you give that consent.
Consequently:
- Before you consume it: if you have bought premium currency and have not yet spent it, you may withdraw within 14 days and we will refund it.
- After you consume it: once currency has been spent on an item, or an item has been used, the right of withdrawal no longer applies to that content, because you consented to immediate performance.
- The right always survives for content not yet delivered — for example a pre-order or a battle pass that has not started.
To withdraw, write to support@calltorule.com within 14 days of the purchase with the transaction reference. You may use plain words; no form is required. We refund within 14 days of accepting the withdrawal, using the same payment method.
5.3 Faulty or missing content — everywhere
Separately from any withdrawal right, if what you bought is not delivered, does not work, or is not as described, you are entitled to have it put right. This is a legal right, not a courtesy — under Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection in the United Arab Emirates, under the EU Digital Content Directive (EU) 2019/770 in the EEA, and under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in the United Kingdom.
Write to support@calltorule.com with the transaction reference. We will repair, replace, or refund. We do not require you to go through the app store first for this kind of claim.
5.4 Our own goodwill policy
Beyond your legal rights, we will consider a refund where:
- The purchase was made in error within the last 14 days and nothing has been consumed;
- A child made the purchase without the account holder's authorisation (see section 8); or
- A bug on our side caused the purchase or destroyed what you bought.
We will not normally refund because a hero, item or price was changed in a balance update, because an account was suspended for breaking the rules, or because a random draw did not give the outcome you wanted.
5.5 Chargebacks
If you dispute a charge with your bank instead of asking us, the account may be suspended until the dispute is resolved, and items obtained with the disputed payment may be removed. Please talk to us first — support@calltorule.com — it is faster and it does not put your account at risk.
6. When items change
Call to Rule is a live game. Heroes get rebalanced, items get adjusted, and content is occasionally retired. A change to how something performs in the game is not a defect and does not by itself entitle you to a refund. Cosmetic items you have bought remain available to you.
If we permanently remove a paid item from your account for a reason that is not your breach of the Terms, we will replace it with an equivalent or refund the amount attributable to it.
7. If we shut the game down
If we permanently discontinue Call to Rule, we will:
- Announce it at least 90 days in advance wherever we reasonably can;
- Stop selling premium currency and paid items immediately on announcement;
- Where practical, unlock remaining paid content or provide a way to spend remaining balances during the notice period; and
- Handle refunds of unspent premium currency bought within the notice period in line with the consumer law that applies to you.
Earned currency, and premium currency already spent, are not refundable on shutdown.
8. Purchases by minors
If you are under 18, you may only make a purchase with the permission of the person who owns the payment method.
For parents and guardians: both major app stores let you require authentication for every purchase, and both let you disable in-app purchases entirely. We strongly recommend turning one of those on. The steps are in Children's Privacy & Parental Information.
If a child made a purchase on your account without your authorisation, contact support@calltorule.com and the relevant app store. We will support a genuine claim.
9. Fraud and payment abuse
We may cancel an order, withhold delivery, remove items or suspend an account where we reasonably believe a payment is fraudulent, stolen, or part of a pattern of abuse — including repeated refund-then-repurchase cycles designed to extract value. Where we do that and we are wrong, we put it right.
10. Questions and complaints
Write to support@calltorule.com with your player ID and the store transaction reference. We aim to acknowledge within 5 business days and resolve within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied, you keep every route in section 16 of the Terms of Service, including your national consumer authority and, in the UAE, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism's consumer protection channels.
