Children's Privacy & Parental Information

Written for parents and guardians — the minimum age for Call to Rule, what a young player's account holds, and the controls you can turn on today.

Last updated: 9 September 2026Version 1.0

1. The minimum age

Call to Rule is for players aged 13 and over. It is not designed for, marketed to, or directed at children under that age.

In the European Economic Area, the age at which a young person can consent to an online service on their own is set by each country and ranges from 13 to 16. Where the local age is higher than 13 — 16 in several EEA states — a holder of parental responsibility must agree to our Terms of Service on the child's behalf and supervise their use of the game.

We ask for a date of birth at registration and use it only to apply these rules. An account that fails the age check is not created, and we do not keep the details of a failed attempt beyond what is needed to stop the check being immediately retried.

If you believe a child under the applicable age has an account, email privacy@papertoad.com. We will verify, delete the account and its data, and confirm to you when it is done — normally within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

2. What is in a young player's account

The same as any other account. It is worth knowing exactly what that means:

  • An email address and a display name. The display name is visible to every other player.
  • Match and rank history, visible to other players.
  • Text chat with teammates and, in some modes, opponents — plus guild and party chat.
  • Friends and guild membership, which are social connections with people who may be adults.
  • Purchases, if a payment method is available on the device.

We do not collect a child's precise location, contacts, photos, or voice. There is no advertising in Call to Rule, no advertising identifier, and no third-party analytics — so a young player is not profiled for marketing by us or by anyone else.

COPPA. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in the United States, as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If we learn we have, we delete it.

3. Controls we recommend you turn on

These take a few minutes and they are the single most effective thing you can do.

Stop unexpected spending

  • iPhone / iPad: Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → iTunes & App Store Purchases → set In-app Purchases to Don't Allow, and Require Password to Always Require.
  • Android: Google Play app → profile → Settings → Authentication → Require authentication for purchasesFor all purchases through Google Play. Google Play's Parental controls can also block purchases by content rating.

Purchases are covered by the Purchases, Virtual Items & Refunds Policy, which explains what to do about an unauthorised purchase.

Limit playtime

Both platforms have built-in tools — Screen Time on iOS and Digital Wellbeing / Family Link on Android — that cap daily time per app and set downtime windows. They work at the operating-system level, so they cannot be argued with in-game.

Manage who your child plays with

Inside Call to Rule your child can, at any time:

  • Mute any player, for a match or permanently;
  • Block a player, which stops messages and friend requests;
  • Report a player, which sends it to moderation; and
  • Turn chat off, in settings.

We recommend turning chat off for younger players, and talking about the report button before it is needed.

4. Rights you can exercise on your child's behalf

As the holder of parental responsibility you may, for a child's account:

  • See what we hold — request an export of the account's personal data;
  • Correct anything inaccurate;
  • Delete the account and its data;
  • Withdraw consent you gave, which ends the processing that relied on it; and
  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.

Email privacy@papertoad.com from an address connected to the account, or ask us how to verify the relationship. We answer within 30 days and we do not charge for it. Full detail is in section 11 of the Privacy Policy.

5. Content and age rating

Call to Rule is a competitive fantasy battler with stylised combat between mythological heroes. It contains no real-world gore, no sexual content, and no depiction of real-world weapons or drugs.

It does contain two things worth knowing about:

  • Open text chat with other players. User behaviour is moderated but cannot be perfectly predicted. This is the main reason for the age rating.
  • Optional purchases, including randomised item draws. The odds are published before purchase, as described in section 4 of the Purchases, Virtual Items & Refunds Policy.

The age rating shown on your app store is assigned through the store's own rating process, and in the United Arab Emirates the game carries the age classification required by the UAE Media Council. Always treat the rating on your store listing as the authoritative one for your country.

6. If something goes wrong

If your child has been harassed, threatened, or contacted inappropriately in Call to Rule, email support@calltorule.com with the player's name, the match or approximate time, and what happened. Mark it urgent. We prioritise reports involving minors, and we act on them.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
